Julita Braxton

NP-P, PMHNP-BC (Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner)

Julita Braxton is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with nearly a decade of experience in general psychiatry. She offers psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and integrative psychotherapeutic support tailored to each client’s unique needs. With advanced training in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) from the Albert Ellis Institute, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), Julita blends evidence-based approaches with deep compassion and cultural awareness.

Julita believes that seeking support is a courageous step and she honors that by creating a warm, open-minded space where clients can bring their full selves to the process. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, her work focuses on healing the whole person, not just treating symptoms. Her approach is collaborative and holistic, integrating mindfulness, lifestyle changes, and personalized wellness planning to promote long-term growth and resilience.

She is affirming of LGBTQIA+ clients, including queer and trans individuals, and offers culturally responsive care to BIPOC clients navigating the layered impacts of identity, systemic stress, and mental health. Julita has experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). She is attentive to how these diagnoses intersect with trauma and identity, and works to create treatment plans that honor each person’s way of moving through the world.

She sees each client as the expert of their own experience and believes that self-efficacy and self-actualization are nurtured through kindness, curiosity, and positive regard. In addition to her practice work, Julita has spent years serving underserved communities through NYC mental health clinics and is currently pursuing her doctorate to further expand her impact.

With empathy, skill, and deep respect for the individual, Julita meets clients where they are and walks alongside them every step of the way.

Autism

“The impulse to heal is real and powerful and lies within the client. Our job is to evoke that healing power… and support it in its expression and development. We are not the healers. We are the context in which healing is inspired.”
- Ron Kurtz

Trauma

“Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness...Trauma is about loss of connection—to ourselves, our bodies, our families, to others, and to the world around us. This disconnection is often hard to recognize because it doesn't happen all at once but rather over time.”
- Peter Levine

OCD

“A lot of people assume that having OCD means liking things organized or hating germs. It tends to be treated like a quirk or an endearing trait. But it's so much more than that. It's the one thing that prohibits me from being free of myself.” - Whitney Amazeen

ADHD

“Think of having ADHD in this way… You have a ‘Ferrari’ brain but with ‘Chevy’ brakes.”
- Jonathan Mooney
